How to use Work Ready

Need some help? Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to use the Work Ready site.

1. If you know what you want to learn, click the “Ready to Learn” button on the homepage.

2. Choose between the three “learning pathways”:
             (A) Finding and Getting a Job
            (B) Going Digital at Home and at Work
             (C) Learning English for Work.

3. Once you pick a learning pathway (finding a job, going digital, or learning English), you will be given a set of goals to choose from. Click on the goal that best fits what you want to do. For example, if you want to learn basic skills for using a computer, choose “improve basic computer skills.”

4. Each goal is made up of several skills. Each skill will have a set of resources to help you learn it. You can click on any skill to begin.

5. Use the filters at the top of the page to see which resource best fits your needs.

6. Click on a resource of your choice. A new window should open. Follow the instructions on the new window to begin learning!

What is a credential?

Some online courses offer “credentials”. These are also called “certifications” or “badges”. Credentials are proof that you completed a specific program and have learned a specific skill. They sometimes are given to people who finish an online course successfully. Most credentials will cost you money.

Some online classes or programs do not have credentials, but you can still list them on your resume and employers will see that you have completed them.

Do credentials matter?

Credentials are NOT required, but employers may look at your credentials to check if you have the skills they are looking for. You can use these credentials to show employers what you have to offer. For example, you can list your earned credentials on your resume or mention a course you completed in an interview.
